The Cross Country disc brakes from Magura, the well know Marte features a redesign for 2009 with the new Marta SL Magnesium as the flagship brake for this range. Inline with the current trends, the handle bar mount and body of the disc brake are white and combines with red (lid for the oil reservoir) and black.
Weighing in at 295 gram (depending on model), the German made Magura Marta SL Magnesium was honored with a Eurobike Award. Due to the amount of activity at the stand it was near to impossible to take a closer look – though the new magura products are due in the shops for early 2009.
A new feature is the so called EBT technology for fast and convenient bleeding. The brakes are one piece forged magnesium with Dual Pistons and automatic pasd wear adjustment. Rotors are available in 203mm, 180mm and 160mm boast being "Awesome looking" however are inline with current rotor design trends.
The black brake level is carbon and includes a reach adjustment option – all bolts are titanium.
The Marta SL uses forged aluminium rather than magnesium and is 40 grams heavier though features the same technology and function including carbon lever. The Marta is also forged aluminium though with an aluminium lever rather than carbon lever and tips the scales at 340 grams though otherwise features the same technology.
Other news for Magura are the updated entry level Julie HP disc brake however the Louise and Gustav M remain unchanged. In front suspension, the redesigned All Mountain Thor fork features 100 – 140mm adjustable travel (RCL remote control) while the (from) 1.38 Kg Durin SL Cross Country fork and the 1.585 Kg Durin marathon have new 2009 models.
