Hutchinson Airless Tire – Serenity

Hutchinson have release an airless tire with a light composite structure that replaces air and tubes. Hutchinson emphasis that it is not a solid rubber tire, rather incorporates a light and strong composite structure covered in the rubber tread.

The research and development was a partnership between Hutchinson and the engineering firm, Biron and is planned for release in late 2010. The new Serenity Airless tires promise the following advantages:

Lightweight & long wearing composite structure
Lightweight, strong and durable, the pliable composite structure has been fabricated to last as long as the life of your bicycle.

No air pressure maintenance
No air = No air pressure maintenance. When using SERENITY tire technology, your bicycle is always ready to go, even for last minute rides. You won’t need to bring a pump, tube repair kit or additional tubes.

Low rolling resistance

As a result of its ingenious shock absorbing system, SERENITY offers the best compromise between performance and comfort. Increased rolling resistance from air loss is no longer a performance factor, so all your effort is focused on efficient cycling.

Easy Maintenance – Replace only the worn tread

When your tread wears out, simply replace only the tread without removing other part of the tire. Simple, easy and clean… Pure SERENITY.

Reduction of waste (no tube, or tire casing to discard)
SERENITY technology not only provides a revolutionary airless tire system, but also reduces waste. Compared to a classic tube + tire system, SERENITY is easier to recycle due to the absence of rim beads. Only the tread is discarded, making the waste material easier to recycle into other rubber related products such as sporting goods.

Comfort or performance options
Mix and match treads with different composite structures and create a wide range of tire performance and comfort options. SERENITY delivers the reliable ride you prefer.

Color options coordinate with you our your bicycle.
Technical and cosmetic, SERENITY technology will be available in a range of colors to match either your bicycle or your personal style perfectly.
