I use the fog inserts but also coupled with Anti-fog spray on the inside of the case lense as well as 1 minute running a hair dryer (cold) pointed to the case before it is closed. If the battery heats up more quickly due to the age, that makes sense. Otherwise changes in outside temperate affect it as well.

Hi Christopher, the GoPro fogging issue is probably more to do with the age of the unit and the conditions in which it has been used. The Sony camera will no doubt suffer the same issue in time.

To deal with the issue GoPro has Anti Fog Inserts available from retail outlets: http://gopro.com/camera-accessories/anti-fog-inserts/ RRP is ~$20.

While i have not yet tried them, reporting elsewhere indicates "they just work", even in cold temperatures/humid environments. Includes 12 sets of anti-fog inserts. Each set is said to last 4-5 uses and can be dried in an oven (3 minutes) and used again.

Hmmm... there's a JB HiFi not far from here
