About Bicycles Network Australia

Bicycles.net.au was launched in 1999 and is the top Australian cycling portal.
It is a free online information resource with comprehensive cycling directory and popular cycling forum.

Australian bicycles shops, cycling clubs. BUGs, organisations, associations, tours, brands and relevant cycling business and services can include their details in the directory for free. The News and Articles section is Australian orientated and allows cyclists and industry professionals to publish articles online and reach a greater audience.

As of March 2008, Bicycles.net.au attracts over 145,000 visitors who view over 1 million pages each month. The average visitors spends over 8 minutes here and 87% are from Oceana (Australia).


Philosophy
Bicycles.net.au is online cycling resource for Australia. We target a General Audience and take measures to ensure that the content is appropriate. We enforce a non-discrimination policy and reserve all rights to reject and delete listings, comments or posts which not appropriate.

The website focus is on Australian related cycling information and we aim to provide the most comprehensive directory of relevant cycling sites and information. Listings are manually checked prior to publishing, this keeps our entire directory small but also highly relevant. Old and irrelevant websites are periodically removed.

We welcome advertising and limit it to cycling related brands, products and services that are relevant for the Australian market. This means we have fewer advertisers however a higher quality of advertising that attracts more viewer interest.


Who is behind this site
Christopher Jones is a recreational cyclist and works professionally as a designer for customers and agencies in Australia and Germany. In addition to providing the driving force behind Bicycles.net.au he also occasionally writes for cycling press such as Bicycling Australia and Mountain Bike Australia.

Christopher Jones is the director of Bicycles Network Australia Pty. Ltd.


Technology
The current website is the third version. This version features a custom built platform for managing the content, based upon the open source CMS software Typo3. This customised version was developed and programmed by Cycomoto Industries Ltd.
