The Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) is the national peak body representing people who ride bicycles for recreation, transport, tourism, health & fitness and fun. It aims to improve the environment for cycling and encourage more Australians to ride more often. The BFA comprises cycling organisations from States and Territories within Australia. It is a nonprofit organisation and was established in 1979. The BFA also indirectly represents several million Australians who ride bicycles for fun, sport and transport because bikes are useful, healthy and less expensive than most other transport modes.
I am interested in lobbying for a rail trail on our disused railway on the northern rivers nsw (particularly Byron Bay). Cycling in this area is frought with dangers due to bad roads and too much traffic. Currently we have to share an uneven footpath with pedestrians, prams, skateboards and dogs. This is way too dangerous so most of us opt for the riding on the road.
I have no idea where to start with this and was hoping you might give me some advice.
