Campagnolo S.r.l. designs, produces and distributes high-end components for racing bikes. It is present in over 30 countries with five branches and nine agencies. Based in Vicenza and with two production plants owned entirely by the company in Romania, Campagnolo has a total workforce of around 700 employees.
In July 2004, Campagnolo S.r.l. established the company Fulcrum Wheels S.r.l., which began by complementing the Campagnolo’s existing range of premium racing cycle wheels and then extended into the Mountain Bike sector with a complete range of high performance wheels.
Campagnolo S.r.l. was founded in Vicenza in 1933 by Commendatore Tullio Campagnolo. The company soon expanded, focusing on the three fundamental concepts that would also characterize its future – performance, technological innovation, and quality of products and services.
campagnoloCampagnolo is a globally recognised brand and exports 80% of its production, with the United States, the UK, Benelux, Germany, France, Spain and Japan its most important markets.
Campagnolo S.r.l. products are created using the most innovative technologies and production processes, with prime-quality materials from the aerospace industry: carbon fibre, titanium and aluminium alloys. And it is precisely in the carbon-fibre sector that Campagnolo, after dominating the aluminium world for decades, has now decided to make a name for itself with applications that were previously deemed unthinkable for the cycling market. It therefore comes as no surprise that the Composites Department, launched in 1998, currently employs one third of Campagnolo’s employees. Products in carbon fibre are constantly being created as a glance at the 2008 collection reveals: cranksets, front and rear derailleurs, integrated controls, headsets, seatposts, bottle cages and high and low-profile wheels all made from carbon fibre.
Besides distinguishing themselves at the top in terms of innovation, quality and performance, Campagnolo products have also become the benchmark for design. This is testified by the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award from the Associazione Design Italiano in recognition of the Veloce groupset, Ergopower integrated controls and Shamal high-profile wheels.
Currently I have an “Isaac UltraSonic” frame which I will build sometime in the near future.
To date Shimano has been the component of choice for several reasons, price, ease of availability no matter where I am in the world. However with this bike build I am considering switching to Campagnolo Components incorporating either Super record or Record EPS.
Firstly would this system be compatible with the Isaac frame?
What would be the best and most cost effective option in fitting the EPS and associated components? Ie. using a mix of super record and record to achieve optimal quality and value. (In your opinion with the knowledge and understanding of the campy products)
Secondly, in searching for campy suppliers there appears to be a limited few which may present a problem for service, repairs, parts etc. can you offer some feedback on this?
I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest,
Regards
Greg
Campagnolo EPS is compatible only as an internally routed system. If your frame does not have EPS/Di2 routing holes then it is not compatible. The only difference between EPS Record and Super Record is weight. All wiring, electronics and motors are identical. Super Record EPS saves wieght by the inclusion of more titanium and carbon in the components. The weight saving is a mere 82 grams. The sensible option being Record. There are EPS trained service centers in all states. Contact De Grandi Cycle and Sport for a recommendation to your local expert.
Hope to have been a help.
