Tour de MikeTour de Mike is over.
Tonight at Canterbury (Tempe) velodrome I pulled my cleat in a standing sprint and spat the bike down the road. Bruises and grazes as expected, but I may of hurt my hand. Have to wait until tomorrow morning to see the doctor and get an xray. So as you suggested toolonglegs, its Saturday week. I've got stuff on ebay
Don't do that Mike, it hurts Best of luck with the xrays. Richard I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
Ouch...hope the hand is OK,yes putting it back a week is good.I got kicked in the temple on Sunday night so I am not feeling great, got to get the motivation up to get the bike out!.
And what were you doing sticking your head in front of someone's boot? Richard we want ALL the gory details I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
yes well...i was trying to help some poor girl from getting her face smashed into the ground as she came over the top of the barrier at a music festival, the few security guys missed half the people who were trying to escape the crush and as she came over the barrier i was too late to catch her and she face planted big time kicking me a good one right in the temple on the way down...next time i will stand back!.
Superman Clark missed Lois by that much... Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
...i know!,being mr nice guy hurts!,although probably not as much as driving 750 k's on a friday night leaving syd at 9pm,getting a couple of hours sleep in the car, working 12hours,socializing sat night too much, working another 11hours sunday and then leaving to drive back at 10.30pm and only having a 30 sec pee stop because i didn't want to get caught in morning traffic from 'ewcastle and arriving home to 8 hours work at 6am...never again and to top it all off the deadline i was on was put back 24hours so it was all for nothing!!!.
on a good note (for me and not him)...the point man i was following on the way back as i didn't want to sit at 140kph all the way back in case some officer was out at 2am in the middle of nowhere,so i waited till someone passed me doing a good speed then sat about 500 meters off their tail for 2 or 3 hours thinking they would hit the land mine first payed off as some officer was out and about at 3am!.I felt sorry for them as i cruised passed.
Confirmed broken, put in plaster cast at doctors and then at the hospital they took the cast off and put a different one on. Oh well.

B*gger! Bad luck Mike. How soon will you be able to get back on your bike? I expect that gym work is going to be a bit tricky as well.

Bummer Mike. Ah well, look at it this way, it'll improve your chances in the Lapin Rouge and you didn't look like challenging mr888 in the Black Cat
Richard I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
ETA on the cast is 6 weeks.
There's a good chance that they will take the plaster one off on Thursday and replace it with a fibreglass one. What no fibrecarbon ???? Gym even more stuffed, who knows I've got stuff on ebay
Fibreglass cast will be so much lighter and stronger. Almost as good as CF but won't explode on contact with water. You'll still be able to jog and ride a stationary bike. Time to work on the aerobics. Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Sorry to hear about the hand Mike, heal quick mate.

thats crap news mike!..sorry to hear that, puts a major hold on our break away!.But saying that I am heading into hospital in the morning if my head aches don't get better...plus my eye is blood red!.Who would of known a girl could kick so hard!
Bugger mr Mike.
I'd go sooner. Head injuries aren't worth mucking about with.
Ouch, how did that happen ? I've got stuff on ebay
Get to the doc now Toolonglegs, that red eye is scary, better safe than sorry.

So how's the hand Mike? At least in the short term, that's going to be one hell of a lifestyle change for you. Hangin' in there?

That's a decent cast you've got there mate. Could you do me a favour and forge my signature on it for me?
How about spending the time off rebuilding the Beast as a commuting fixie Richard I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
Unfortunelly I'm left handed, so signatures are a bit hard to do at the moment Time on my hand(s) to rebuild the beast but no ability to do it single handed. Ironic isn't it I've got stuff on ebay
You can still eat with your right hand, right? Watch your weight. Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Never say: "Unfortunately, I'm left handed ...". Rather, say: "Unfortunately, it's my left hand that's damaged ...". ps. I fixed up your spelling (anything for a fellow left-hander). I'm sure that it was your cast that caused the error. Litespeed Classic - 3Al/2.5V titanium tube set, Record 9-speed groupset, Open Corsa Evo CX
