Hey rogan - I was looking but I wasnt sure what the Peloton Sports Kit looked like.. lolrogan wrote:I was in that race, in the Peloton Sports kit
would have been good to meet ya.
rogan wrote:It's a "true" sprinter's finish so the ONLY way I will get a result at that course is to get away or to chisel the bunch down to a manageable 10 or so riders... That was never going to happen today.
yep saw them attacks ..... I have plenty of respect for the guys that go for the break. its definitely something I'll struggle to do, hence really like the sprinter friendly courses..rogan wrote:There were a few goes. A strong Randwick Botany rider, who I believe is Barry Mourad (State ITT champ for his Masters Div), went round the outside down the straight 3 times
it sure was - looking at earnies photos everyone was there for the sprintrogan wrote:it looked like 20 riders spread the entire width of the track!

Then he'll know he's in a racerogan wrote: You're a machine Ehly! Don't make a habit of it or you'll be trying your luck with the A's. It looked like they had a tough day!
A Grade was easy, as no one wanted to chase the break.
A very typical EC race.

The break took about half a lap out of the bunch, which is a massive gap at ECR. What I can never work out is how A Grade gets a break going almost every time, and B Grade never does. I'm sure if the right 5 or 6 guys attacked together and the bunch hesitated, it *could* happen...A Grade was easy, as no one wanted to chase the break.

Actually they took a gap just shy of the length of the straight out of the bunch.rogan wrote:[The break took about half a lap out of the bunch, which is a massive gap at ECR. How it happens.......Eddie, and or Peter will always try to get away, and when it happens it more often than not, sticks.
I've made a break with them once, but only lasted 3 laps. They MOTOR!
As for a B grade attack, you just need the right guys.

ANd the fact that in B grade if your that strong you'll go up soon enough...if your super strong and in A grade then you've got no where to go...so you just make everyone else suffer.Burt 'Pigeon Racer' Jones wrote:Actually they took a gap just shy of the length of the straight out of the bunch.rogan wrote:[The break took about half a lap out of the bunch, which is a massive gap at ECR. But your right...if you get 4 or 5 guys nailing it from the start and working together you will stay away.

I'd like to try that.... next time ROGAN - i'll try latch on the break to give it a crack. i do think the break needs at least 5 riders willing to suffer to make it work.rogan wrote:I'm sure if the right 5 or 6 guys attacked together and the bunch hesitated, it *could* happen...

NOT.. LOLaeroslavebigbelly wrote:no one in A grade is safe the way he is progressing:-)
A grade lapped B grade. I wonder what AVG they were going ???
I don't think B grade lapped C so I wonder what AVG they were going too. Prob similar to B.
C to B might not be a big gap, but I do think B to A is a different story.
In the end I think it was just good timing. and the gamble to follow orange&black jersey worked out.

I went off in that little break that overtook the second A grade bunch, what the hell were they riding so so slow.eon wrote:A grade lapped B grade. I wonder what AVG they were going ???

I think A grade lapped us at about lap 10 which would make them about 24 seconds a lap quicker (really rough estimate)
C grade averaged 37.0kph where my speedo showed 37.8 for B grade
The guy in the orange&black was strong, it was a good wheel to pick.

B grade at 37.8kph. (41 riders)
A grade at 40.88kph (40+? riders)
Looks like Ehly is right...B and C closer than B and A....
