Gloves for track racing

Postby X-wing » Thu Aug 16, 2007 6:18 pm

Not sure if this is the right place for this, so let me know if it should be in the 'general discussion' section.

I was reading cycling news tonight, and I was looking at the photos from the Festival of Speed.

I noticed that a high percentage of the riders at the velodrome appear to be wearing what look like motorcycle gloves - at least, that is what they look like to me. I have a pair that look very similar - short gloves, Kevlar on the nuckles etc.

Here is a pic:

Now, what I know about racing could be comfortably scrawled on a postage stamp, so I am wondering if this is normal gear for track racing? Or is it some sort of gear that is only trotted out for the upper-echelon of racing?

Does anyone else here use these gloves?

Thanks in advance for satisfying my curiousity.

If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

Regular road cycling gloves will just fine.
Just as on the road you will get extra grip and crash protection.
No need to spend up large on the sprinter type gloves....
