Isn't it different when ....?

I rode the Uriarra - Cotter loop from home for the first time in a long time this morning (since late May actually). Isn't it different when you go back to some genuinely hilly riding after slacking off for a while?
The last few weeks have been windy, so I've been riding the Federal Highway out to Shingle Hill - and I've had a few 'soft' weeks getting over a chest infection and / or riding at Stromlo Forest Park.
It was good to get back to some hillier work, but it's a lot harder.
Despite all that, I'm riding off-road tomorrow (scroll down to Sparrow Hill on this page), so I won't be backing up with a hilly road ride.
It will all have to change as our preparation for the Hartley Challenge gets in to full swing over the next few weeks.
