Finally decided to give it a crack today since it was such a beautiful morning. Left home at 6am, which was a little too early for a certain magpie to attack me.
All up I did 101.19km in 3 hours 18 minutes and 41 seconds at an average speed of 30.6km/h. I ride with a high cadence and it averaged 93 for the ride. The most pleasing aspect was that my heart rate stayed reasonably low throughout, considering the amount of climbing I did. All in all it was good fun.

Good effort mate. With numbers like that, you'll have many more to come and the longer distances are just a matter of giving them a shot.

But leaving early to miss the magpie? You probably spoiled his whole weekend 8)

Yeah I did the M4-M7-M5 back up Northern Rd loop. I don't do any racing, I've been training on the road bike for 4 weeks now and it is a blast. Maybe one day I'll join a club.

I gave him one final shot at me on the way back home but he sat there. It's not my fault. :D

Hmmm.... That's a reminder for me to get my act together and do one in Perth!

Anyone up for one? Starting near the city?

Thanks. My legs have been great today and did a nice easy 35 minute recovery ride this evening. The only time they felt bad was when I first got off the bike yesterday, but after some warm down stretches and a nice hot shower they were fine.

Thanks.
The M7 cyclepath has some climbs, it is fairly undulating, pretty much like the entire course I did. I'm not sure how accurate it is but my cycle computer estimated the ascent to be 787m including a couple of hills I added at the end to make sure I got through the 100km mark.

Top effort Killer. Good stats too

Been thinking about doing that Northern Rd loop for as couple of months now. Did you head east first, then down the M7/M5 or did you do Northern Rd first up?

If you do the M4/M7/M5 section first, I could meet you along the M5 and ride with up the Northern Rd part.

Cheers,

Kev.

Thanks Kev. Yeah I headed east first along the M4 then the M7/M5 and back along the glorious Northern Road. I'll let you know the next time I intend to ride that path. 8)
