I'm looking at buying a new road bike to upgrade from a commuter bike and to start to cycle seriousy.

can anyone give me advice on a new road bike under $2000. I will be looking to compete in some races if possible also.

Keep an eye out for some sales, with 20+% off its the best way to get a bike at a great deal. I think total Rush are having a sale on at the moment,

Come to "Tour de France at Total Rush-WIN a Bike! " Friday, July 23 from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Total Rush and Rush... http://fb.me/vuhWwNqF "

Otherwise Giant TCR's are amazing value for money and when they're on sale you can usually get them around the 2k mark.

Maybe also have a look at www.chainreactioncycles.co.uk they usually have some good deals on bike makers such as CUBE which make some great bikes.

They are a nice looking bike with good specs. I might get one later this year, taken it for a test ride yet? Check out the Defy range as well. Similar spec with a relaxed geometry.
