Long distance cycling.

Hi there,

My name is Pawel (polish) but people call me Paul. Been riding a mountain bikes for a good 5 years or so, recently purchased a custom Eddy Merckx bicycle and i absolutely love it! Had it for over 2 months now and clocked about 1600km so far.

Last Sunday i decided to beat a new record and ride from Perth to Bunbury and back in the same day, good ride:

6:10AM start
8:30PM finish
12h:40min pedalling
1h:40min breaks total
14h:20min minutes total

Max speed: 53
Average speed: 29,5km/h
distance 376km

Another challenge i am thinking of is Perth-Busselton-Perth so probably around 460km.

I normally cycle on my own but wouldn't mind getting a few people together and doing the above ride.

Any takers?

There is a calendar at the Audax website ... suggest you review that. The PAP is run every four years.

Hi Pawel,

Those figures are good, but may I offer you some advice, don't over do it. Get yourself used too the big Ks then, make targets with recovery periods that allow you too build up to the next challenge.

I recently did Perth to Busselton (247km (AT) 27.9km avg) was good ride but what made it really good was that there was 24 of us with a support vehicle which helped heaps with road presence.

Long weekend ahead, thinking about a new challenge, Perth-Busselton-Perth perhaps on a Saturday or Sunday, probably a Saturday so petrol stations are open.

Start: probably around 4AM.
Finish: 10-11PM?
Distance: ~480km
