I swapped out my 55/44 12-25 for 50/34 11-28 on Sunday....big hills.
Didn't have to adjust the front derailleur at all and it changed perfectly all day.Ok if you are going to stick with a compact you would run the mechanism at recommended distance...but at least this way you can go from hard and flat to hard and hilly in under 10 minutes.Pretty much the same ratio in the big gears but huge difference in the lower gears...still not enough for me to spin when you hit 19% for 2km's straight :oops: .

Put a long cage and a 34 or 36 on the back. 34/36 should be low enough. If not, get the MTB out and put some slicks on it.
