For Roadies

i just finished rebuilding my 2nd bike. it's an old TREK USPS alum frame with Ultegra6 groupset. White, blue and accent of red. The old bartape is carbon black. I don't find it matching so I was planning to put whites on it. What color do you guys think would match the bike better? My dilemna with white is that cork white would trap dirty easily, leather synthetic white would yellow in time. Has anyone seen synthetic carbon white? What is a good white bar tape?

I hear that the ebay servers are crumbling under the pressure by all those usps treks being sold recently I've got the cheap fizik bar tape on one of my bikes which stays very clean compared to the old "soft" type that it used to have.

Don't get the Cinelli 'carbon weave' tape. slippery as hell. You can wash cork tape...comes up good.

haha no not really, you're right I was just joking regarding the LA happenings. I'm sure the bike is excellent, certainly looks good.

Don't get Cinelli Gel Cork. It holds dirt way more than the white tape my 'dale came with, and isn't easy to clean either. Very comfortable, but wouldn't buy again. Cheers

My vote is for Lizard Skins DSP tape. Nice and grippy in the wet and without gloves also if you choose to do so.

+ on Lizard skins. Slightly more expensive but easy to clean without being slippery.

I used the Fizik tape on my Merckx, it is mainly white with colour stitching and a colour stripe on the edge.
Most wrap it on so that the colour is showing, makes for a nice spiral pattern. I do it the other way so that only the colour stitching is showing.
Gives yout the white bar tape you want with just a hint of colour for accent. (comes in blue too)

I have the fizik white tape on one bike & also the brown on another, it's been great so far & cleans up well with metho.
White cork tape cleans up well also with a good soapy scrub with a sponge.

Looks good, not sure about that stem though. Never pass up an opportunity to add more white!
