Meh...aesthetically some bikes look better with a spacer.

Those flatbar "superbikes" are an abomination though.

Definitely agree.
My new MTB looks a shedload better and the cornering has improved by leaps and bounds since I pulled the spacers :P
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.
