Join a club or not?

Postby shaneo92 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 1:55 pm

I have been thinking of joining a club for a while now (for the social side of things), it would be the Illawarra Cycle club. I couldnt find any info on the cost of joining the club on the site.

Is it worth joining if I dont intend to race at this stage, I may in the future?

When I was a kid (I rode up until I was 17 and am 36 now (had a some time off)), the club I belonged to used to have training rides every Sunday morning, does this happen at clubs now?

Interested in your thoughts.

Thanks,

Shane

club membership (non-racing) should only be $20 or 30. you could then convert to a racing licence down the track

definately worth it for the social & bunch-riding skills aspects. my club has about 10 organised rides throughout the week

Around $15 for kids' recreational membership. For adults, it's more in the range of $55 or more, depending on the club.
Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple :)

I'm a social member of a club. We have bunch rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings and a fast and early ride (too early for me) Tuesdays and Thursdays.
There's a fast ride and an easy ride on Saturday and the Sunday ride is a bit of both.
Membership fee is bugger all. Insurance is about $70.
Its pretty good. You can always ride by yourself but bunch rides are different. I recommend it.
