Spoke length

Postby md » Mon Sep 05, 2011 6:58 am

Hi all,
I have a set of DA 7800 hubs I am putting to a set of wheels.
Being 16H front I am using a Ritchey WCS Deep Section front rim and a 20H DT Swiss RR585 for the rear.
I plan on using brass with double butted spokes...but what I dont know is spoke length.
I still have the original DA spokes but no idea whether they are suitable. Anyone got any clues?
Cheers
Michael

Michael,

The DT Swiss website has a spoke calculator tool. There is a help file which explains how to use it.

Also, Sheldon Brown's site links to some more spoke calculator tools.

Get the hub specs along with the rim specs and simply enter them into a spokecalc... then check all the measurements again.
If your original spokes are greater than 1mm than what the spokecalc recommends, then it is not recommended to use them.
