Great Alpine Road....

Road the GAR from bright to Hotham and back last week end.
Whoa !!!
That was rather intimidating! Not the road/course. The cars and 4wd's.
Pretty scary on the corners. The cars had no where to go except up behind me at a scary pace.
I guess they are sitting on 100 km or more and to slow down that quick around corners when they come across us. Must be a shock for them as well. God love the oldies.
This lady apologized to me because of the way she had to slow down. We had a chat. She was lovely.
She said that she was sitting on the speed limit and came through some bends and came across me and another car coming the other way. She was a bit shaken that's for sure.

Never thought of it from the drivers perspective until last weekend.
As I said an interesting ride!!

Only by motorbike - great climb from Harrietville to Hotham with 150horsepower .

I did do the rail trail from Wangaratta to Bright and back, with the detour for Beechworth a couple of years ago but as a rail trail it's both mostly flat and off road so not the same thing.

I rode that for the first time in Jan and can't wait to do it again when we travel over for this years Alpine. My favourite ride in that area. The road was dead quiet when I did it save for some fellow cyclists.
