FM066SL arrived today as did new wheel + rim from FarSports.

Had the packages open on the front lawn checking they survived the trip, while postie look for another package in back of van.

I am very happy with it except

What the cable guides should look like:

What the cable guide on the top of top tube for the rear brake looks like

Both aesthetically and what a repaired hole that size will do to the structural integrity of the frame.

If not bad, and it look less obvious sanded back, leave it. Otherwise top tube will be getting a lick of paint. Which is a shame, really like the naked UD carbon look.

Yea not that nice looking at all - guides put in after the fact.

You been on VeloBuld to see if others have the same guide issues/style/ugliness?

What work stand is that you have SL up on?

I am guessing that once you start building and have a fork you turn it round and lock the fork in with the rear hanging in the air so you can tune the gears?

Steve I think I am the first one on VeloBuild to get their FM066SL frame, but photo also posted there for feedback/opinions/ideas

It i a Tacx CycleMotion Stand T3075, fairly heavy duty stand for when I battle with BBs. Had it for three years and would not be without it.

Fit the forks and then swing round, lock the front and work on the rear. Does have problems with my winter commuter with full length guards though.

checked beij's FM066SL video, his cable guides are the same as my good ones.

Will be making the effort to outstealth beij, with stickerless fairsports 38mm CF wheels, black Ciamillo brakes (thanks to pawnii), slightly smaller decals on the stem (still has them though)

David and Steve, my stand is the heavy 2 legs 4 feet variety, the tripod version makes more sense in confined spaces, ie can't walk around the bike, so swing the bike around.

I've just had a very pleasant email exchange with Bella from Farsports, and she's put together the following wheelset based on my request:

Front: Superlight 38mm 3k Carbon weave
Rear : Superlight 50mm 3k Carbon weave
Hub : Edhub, shimano fit
Spoke : Sapim CX ray - black
Nipple : Sapim sils - red
Weight : 1300g +/- 30g

Has anyone heard of Edhub hubs before? she's reassured me that they're a good hub, 6 pawls for the rear (compared to 4 in standard hubs) and 4 bearings in the front hub compared to 2 standard. The other option is to upgrade to Alchemy hubs, not sure of the price difference though... what would y'all recommend?

Bit of help guys, can someone please confirm what size 'seatpost topper' ill need for my FM028 ISP ?

im looking for something with a zero offset but cant seem to find what diameter topper ill need.

my ebay vernier calipers says its about 37mm at the top of the ISP but that dosnt seem to match anything ive found online

typically ive seen 30.25mm, 34.9 and a 38mm one..

help!

malocchio from what I have heard the eduhubs are the upmarket bitex hubs and bitex hubs have a good reputation, if a little heavy.

Quoted for truth, I too have one of these and they are an excellent bit of kit - a bit bulky if all you are ever doing is a quick gear tune-up but if you're doing anything more involved (like a component change or anything up to a full strip/build - I built up my Cinelli on mine) or even giving it your steed a decent wash they're the [insert favourite animal part euphemism here]

I received the go-ahead from the Minister for War and Finance, hopefully will be placing the order later today!

They do alchemy hubs?

If you can stretch it get them - they would be one of the best hubs going (in my web educated opinion) well that a couple of wheel builders I have spoken with.

Hang on forgot the Alchemy require special tools to service

Yep they offer Alchemy hubs, but they come at a $600 premium, which puts the cost out of the comfortable range for me.

From what I can tell, the Edhub hubs are pretty good for the price anyway

Would be quite a stretch. I don't know what they charge extra for them but it would have to be $500+

Shame about the ports hope it is just cosmetic. Can I ask was the frame from Dengfu or Hongfu? Really interested in your ride impression when you get it built up.

You can use a 'Tune Cappy', you just need to cut up an aluminium can and jam it up inside the cappy to space it out - worked fine on my FM028 ISP.
I just sold my frame so if you want to buy mine at a good price let me know, its black.

I'd get the Alchemy ORC rear and see if they can source a 'wide' edhub/bitex front (they do make them - see BHS), they are near identical dimensions to the alchemy ELF front hub, that'll save some dosh.

I think i'm going to sell the FM028 as I plan to go Di2 internal, and the FM066 would be perfect.
Looks like the GB has closed though.

think we should start a BNA one? i think min order is 10. they can send to diff addresses so shouldnt be too much of a hassle.
