I have recently done that with my old trainer/commuter. No issues with the shifting at all front or rear. The braking needs a touch more lever pressure as the 6700 levers have a different pull ratio to the 6600 ones, still pulls up fine though.
It's a very worth while upgrade to get rid of those bloody cables flapping around at the front. The 6700 shifters are more comfortable IMO as the are a larger diameter body and and feel firmer to hang onto.

+1 to all warthog1's comments. It really is worthwhile to upgrade the brake calipers from 6600 to 6700. The difference is amazing, not that there's too much wrong with the 6700 shifters / 6600 brakes combo.

If you have small hands you may find the larger diameter hoods a little strange to get used to, but you do adapt.

The cable routing under the bar tape is nice, but don't clamp the cable down too tight with the tape as it can make the shifting a little bit sluggish compared to 6600. Be prepared for a much more solid mechanical feel with 6700 compared to light action Swiss watch feel with 6600 shifting.
