Race Tyre Advice

Hi, I'm looking for some opinions on race tyres.

I am doing a triathlon and a mate is lending me his race rims and I am getting some latex tubes and I need a couple of tyres to boot them. I don't need a tyre that will last 5000kms, just one that is fast, light and rolls well. Hopefully it will last 92kms!

Your opinions please...

Tony

Whatever floats your boat... basically, anything marketed as "Race".

Cell has Panaracer Evo3's (last years model) on sale, Michelin Pro 3's are running out as well, or you could do the 'Toyota' option and go Conti GP4000 in some form, or one of the less common manufacturers. They all work, there's stuff all difference between them in the dry.

(A mate of mine did crash a few times on some Bontrager race tyres - they have a ridge on the side, and it wasn't too grippy when cranked over).

Tufo Elite 23 or Giro twix.

Good grip without being to stick and feel great in the courners

Tri shop here recommended Schwalbe Ultremo ZX's to me. Have used them for two HIM's and have had less punctures than my Pro 3's but they're still prone to cut easily. Good selection of colours too, not that I'm vain

+1 for the Ultremo's if there is the possibility of it being wet, otherwise my pick is Vittoria Corsa Evo's, however they are renowned as being atrocious in the wet (and I will happily back that claim up)
