For Roadies

I am currently looking to get a bike fit done, i have had a pretty standard bike fit about 2 years ago and am curious if a more intensive fit will make any difernece. I am looking at the BG fit as its readily available around the corner.
Where did you get your fit done? What was the outcome (positive or negative)? Did you notice serious performance gains? Are you more comfortable on your bike on 100km or 3 + hour rides?

Steve Hogg in Sydney would be my recommendation, but someone in the know in Melbourne might jump in with advice. I've had a bad fit done in Canberra (KOPS and associated similar crap), you need someone who really understands cycling. Perhaps find out who the VIS use.

I live in Melbourne but went to Steve Hogg in Sydney and recommend him. As a coach I have sent people to Emma Colson, a physio and Comm Games MTBer who used to practise at Olympic Park Sports Medicine here in Melb. She may have moved but she used to do a great job, Andrew

I have emailed Steve Hogg as i tend to aggree with his concept about KOPS. I have short femurs and and long torso so it feels odd to be positionsed so far forward.

My wife and I were both fitted by Emma and she did an awesome job perfect match between comfort and aerodynamic

There are two girls who do the work - Rosie and Emma and both work for Topbike, I believe.. I had Emma fit myself up just over two weeks ago and my wife about a month ago.

what are the ins and out's regarding this,
if you go and asked to be fitted at a bike shop, is there a formula they use? how do they know how to fit, Is there a cirtificate they get?
how do u know if you have a good fit or bad fit (sounds stupid I know) i'm guessing it's a balance between comfort and performance
i'm a newby so learning still about this! I believe i need to get my bike fitted to me better, i'm doing well, but don't think i'm using all my legs, and have played with my seat, but think my head set should be lifted a little higher!
regards Lars!
p.s bike is a Madone 3.1

Mine was initially done by the LBS, but I'm not that happy with it.
I've booked in to Athlete Lab in Sydney, I'm pretty impressed with the setup they have there.
