Merida Roadies v the rest

I am considering my road bike purchase and looking for a high end top quality bike to race.

I am wanting to get opinion on Merida bikes , especially the Scultura as it seems from limited reviews it is a top racer at a very affordable price (sub $6.5k).

The other bike I have been considering is the Sworks Tarmac sl4, however after reading that Merida make many of the Specialized bikes I am wondering are these 2 bikes in the same league as there is a fair price difference between both ?

Having owned three Merida bikes from a base model to the Scultura Evo 909-e Team (2010 model), I can honestly say that I have not had any problems with them or have heard nothing of others having issues.

For the price point you are looking at, any bike should perform well. I went for the Merida Scultura as I knew it was a good deal and could not be beaten for price in other top brands I was looking at.
Having said that, pick three of your top choices and compare features such as group sets, wheels etc, then take them for a ride to see which one you like best. Also make sure you get fitted to the bike properly by the LBS.

You will find that the Scultura geometry will be race driven so don’t expect a cruising bike. I can ride mine for 5 hours straight without discomfort. It is fast and reliable and I have had absolutely no dramas yet, on this or any other of my bikes.
