TLL,

what about Perth. Not exactly sure what you do but things are really starting to crank here across a number of sectors - not just Oil and Mining but that has been helping.

Hi Giwi,I am a photographer...sort of need to be based where all the magazine and agencies are, because of the type of photography I do.

Not many post left in this thread!.
One year ago I did the Grand Bisou (big kiss) 135km with 1500m climbing in 4h8m in strong wind.
Today I did the little kiss in 1h54m for 56km with 550m climbing...29.something average.
Oh what a difference a year makes!...last year I finished in terrible pain...this year I didn't :D .

Great day...for the last 15 months or so I have seen my local climb from my balcony...Col des Portes (en Bugey) is 50km to the summit from my house...about 1000meters climbing in total.Everytime I looked at it I would be like "if only I could do it 1 more time!".
So today I did :D .1st time up it since maybe March 2010...and 1st 100km+ ride since April 2010...woohoo!.
Wasn't easy...but down to fitness...not back pain!.

Cheers Foo...been a long time!.Last two weeks I have started to feel good.Might be able to put some hurt down on club rides soon.
But they did offer me the sole place in Cat1 for the club crit in 2 weeks time.Only one person per grade gets to ride cause we are a small club and there are so many cross roads to cover!.But I think I might turn that down...might be a bit embarrassing.I think I could finish a Cat4 race now..that's something right  .
Lot of excess weight to lose!.

Maybe not,HOPEFULLY we will know in the next week what is happening. If we are leaving at the end of July. But we have given notice on our house here and someone is moving in on first of August...and you know how complicated things can get in France finding new dwellings in a hurry!.
Cause of all my troubles....no idea!.

Hi toolonglegs,

Am fairly new on this board and been reading some of your story and you are one lucky one.
What town are you in precisely? I was born in rumilly and used to live in seyssel which is probably not too far from where you are from some of the descriptions you had from your travel (just before annecy) I haven't been back home for about 5 years now but plan to do so shortly and taken the bike home for some good cycling trips.
I have fond memories from when I was a child of thentournde France going through town ..... What an experience it was
The food ....mmmm miss it so much but the fondue and Raclette can be a bit fattening
Indeed winter goes for a long time but what an experience youngest have over there.....make the most of it and enjoy :)

Cheers Ireland...about time too!.

Le velo....I know where Seyssel...you get pretty close to it when you do a Grand Columbier / Col de Richmond loop. When you get back home make sure you head up there. The Grand Columbier from that side is not so bad, well it is still a huge climb but not as nasty as the western side....there is one section that averages 19% for two km's...makes you want to cry like a baby!.I can see it from my house on a clear day...it is the only mountain I can see over the top of the Bugey range apart from Mont Blanc.Beautiful countryside!.
