First Road Bike

Postby waqas_1994 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 2:43 pm

Hey Guys!

Ive been looking for a while and have decided on getting a road bike. I will be doing mostly weekend rides around 60km to 80km. I have narrowed down my search to a few models which fit in my price range.
1. Giant Defy 1
2. Reid Falco
3.Trek 2.1
4. Cell Cyclone
5. Giant Defy 2

I test rode the defy 2 and it feels really comfortable, they didn't have the right size in the defy 1. I'm not to sure about the reid falco and the cell cyclone in terms of reliability. Does anyone have any reviews on these.

Also when can the 2014 Giant models be expected to come out?

Lastly, is it worth getting a road bike now or should i wait till summer?

Thanks in advance

Giant defy 1 is the (IMO) the best bike in your list by far. The cell is the only full carbon fibre bike on your list.

Anyway look at this http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... 1-12-45849

I was just over at park bikes, test rode the trek 2.1. Bike feels smooth and corners really well. The bakes were weak though. The saddle was also very hard. I couldn't sit down for more than a minute. I'm gona go and test ride the defy 1 now at giant Sydney.

I decided on getting the defy 2. The defy 1 was sold out in my size. Its basically the same frame/fork with the tiagra group set rather than 105, i can always upgrade if i get into cycling seriously. I chose the defy over the trek because it felt a lot more comfortable and suited me much better.

The service at park bikes was great and they did offer to swap over the saddle for free.

Good choice mate, the Defy is a great jigger. Enjoy it!

I haven't got it just yet, i'm going in on the 19th to get it and the fitting done. Hopefully all goes well. Are there any good computers which measure cadence and speed other than garmin? Also what sort of a light am i going to need if am planning to do early morning rides in the national park?
