LACC's Tour of August is here, so clear your schedules and save the dates. It's time to represent your club and race with the best in what will be an enjoyable series of races held in conjunction with the Parramatta, Penrith, and Macarthur clubs.
Note that the times listed are race start times, not sign-on times. Venue information can be found on the Club Website.
Stage 1 - 8.00am Saturday 3rd August 2013
Stage 2 - 9.00am Sunday 4th August 2013
Razorback Hill Climb including Club Hillclimb Championships

The races are run over 5 grades, A-E. Each race is a race on it's own, with prize money etc. The five races indicated are also worth points for showing up and for getting places. These points are added up at the end of the series and the most points is the winner - in each grade.
So if you can do the whole series, great! If you can't, then just show up for a race or two that traditionally has good sized fields.

Well it was my 3rd ever race (only started riding end of March this year) and thought I'd give B grade a run. I ended up about 17th according to the wife. It was pretty good, although chasing down one of the breaks not far from the end took too much out of me, in hindsight I should of just stuck in the group rather than chase it down. I dropped towards the rear to rest and then in the last 2 laps my calves started to cramp up which didn't help me at all. The pace was alright for me, some better tactics next time around may get a better result.
Hopefully I pull up alright in the morning for the hill climb.

Well done Michael, I raced B grade today and it was not an easy race. For your 3rd race ever you did very well to hang in there. You really realise in a group of that size the difference between sitting in and sitting on the front or going off the front
You're not wrong vander, going off the front took it out of me. Trying to recover for the finish just as everyone started to up the pace was no good either. The second last I was on the rear trying to stretch and rub my calves as much as I could. I'm not really sure why they cramped up either, it happened at the handicap race at Oakville on the last lap. Hasn't happened any other times I have been riding.
My left calf was still sore this morning, lots of stretching before the hill climb. According to my garmin I did it in 12.37 (strava segment Razorback is 12.25). Not sure where that puts me.
Did anyone else do it? What time did you do it in?
