I just watched "the Hard Road" which is a 2003 US movie doco about the NetZero team. LoFi, gritty, real, awesome. It would be good to hear about some of the more obscure video's, because the internet search reveals only the well known ones. But if we list up the greats, here it would be awesome.

1. Hard Road
2. ... [list your video, movie etc.]

Probably "Blood sweat and gears" was what first got me wondering if I could after 15 years or so actually ride a bike. Since I was basically hopeless at running, not great at any other sports nor interested in them. Riding a bike seemed like it would be easy enough and seemed interesting.

If I didn't watch that - I probably wouldn't be riding bicycles. If you'd told me back then that I'd ride over 350km in a week or ride a bike downhill at 70km/h, I'd have said you were insane. :)

The Hard Road is excellent and the perfect companion movie is Pro also made by Jamie Paolinetti and also based in the USA.

I rented blood sweat and gears off big pond movies last week. I only watched 30 minutes. It was pretty boring. Not old enough to be charming or interesting and too old to be relevant.

And don't ever watch american flyers.

Breaking Away is OK. Bit like Hoosiers on bikes, it's even set in Indiana.

For a laugh, American Flyers. Non-cycling young brother of top cyclist gets ready for a major international stage race through the Rocky Mountains in about 6 weeks. Features the immortal line "Let him go, he'll die in the hills", which some colleagues and I once put on an intervarsity t-shirt (the year we rolled UWA in Perth in the TTT? Hmm, maybe). One of the guys (not me) some time later showed up wearing that shirt at some event where someone unfortunately did have suffer a cardiac arrest and die on a hill, so umm... the shirt was worn less often thereafter.

I watched Blood Sweat & Gears awhile ago. I quite liked it...

I stumbled across The Ride.
2 riders won some Oakley competition. One got to ride Ventoux with Froome & Sean Kelly, the other rode Alpe D'Huez with Rolland & Virenque... I enjoyed it. The guy that rode Ventoux is a classic.
Also ESPN Aussies Abroad - Cadel Evans The Road to Glory

'Blood, Sweat and ...' was on SBS last year. I did like 'going behind the stage curtain' and felt for Magnus Backstedt. Capturing on camera someone dealing with effectively losing his job extends beyond sport.

The Road to Paris. Starts with Lance on a hill training. The we go to the press room for a denial on EPO. After the shock of the irony, it is not too bad. Even the long plane ride with Lance is bearable.
