Commuting bike, no.
Road bike, maybe depends on timing but I try to clean it after each ride when they're dirty enough with inspection/minor maintenance.

I put a zinc-plated Connex chain on my commuter back in Autumn. It hasn't needed re-lubing once this winter. Highly recommended.
I tend to completely strip and clean my bikes 1-2 times a year. Other than that I just lube the chains. Although I have developed a silly habit of cleaning the tire sidewalls, makes the Michelin/Continental logos look nicer.
I regularly ride in the rain so it gets a bit silly trying to maintain a pristine looking bike.

It gets washed if it rains on the way home. If I remember, I lube the chain.RonK wrote:No self-respecting cyclist would ever dream of being seen in public without spending at least a couple of hours cleaning and polishing the bike before a ride.

My road bike gets a lot of love and gets frequent baby wiping.
My commuter soldiers on through crappy weather and instead gets a lot of respect for my frequent neglect.
