tyre width 24 and 26

Postby zill » Fri Jan 30, 2015 10:54 am

Just say you had only tyres, one is 24 and one is 26 and you had the option of installing them on any of the two wheels. For optimal control and compliance which one would you put on which wheel and why?

So the options are either:

24 front, 26 back
or
26 front, 24 back

In terms of being aero, 24 at the front seems obvious but what about control and compliance?

Personally... 24 front, 26 back.

On a mountain bike, I will go the wider tire on the front.

Why is that? Do you get more control with wider at the front?

How about 26 front 24 back compared with both front and back 26 in terms of control and cornering?

Do tyres come in 24 and 26? I'm all over picking between 23 and 25 but now I've got some more thinking to do.
