Hi Guys,
I live in Portugal and will start a one year sabbatical in University of Queensland Brisbane starting this November:
I would very much like to meet and join a small group of riders to train regularly and do some racing events.
Also, would like to know if it is worth bringing my MTB.
Thanks for your help,
Pedro

Nice to hear from you Pedro.
UQ is the middle of the most popular Brisbane circuit for road bikes - known as the "River Loop". You'll be spoilt for choice.
As to group rides, it would be tempting to contact the UQ club as they are pretty active and you'll get transport help, directions, mechanical advice...
I'd put a post like you've done in the Queensland section mentioning Brisbane in the title.
Oh and there's plenty of MTB riding around Brisbane, but not a lot around UQ. Might need a car to get you to the better places (White's Hill, Gap Creek, Brisbane Forest Park)

Gap Creek would be the closest to UQ - http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/trails/view/trail/22" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for MTBing. With a car, Bunya and Daisy HIll / Cornubia are lest than 30min drive. Mt Joyce and Nerang < 60min, with Old Hidden vale and Sunshine coast trails a bit over 1hr drive. There are also several Downhill tracks around if that is your thing.
Aus motorists are safe to kill a cyclist at any time & confident that they will be protected from any serious penalties.
