Mt Panorama trackHi, anyone know if cycling in this circuit is possible on Friday evenings/nights?
Hi Stated,
Mt Panorama is a public road, therefore open to the public all the time except the one or two times per year it's closed for racing. There's no street lights. Beautiful to ride around, hot mix all the way with little traffic. Going the opposite direction to the race cars is the steepest direction. Remember that it is a two way street sometimes visitors assume it's a one way circuit and subsequently take racing lines around the track. Let me know if you're going to do it and I'll take you for a ride, hope you like hills Pain is weakness leaving the body.
Thanks all,
Wasn't aware Bathurst 1000 was this week, there is a possibility I finish my deliveries there tomorrow so might ride there if that's the case jr1991, will let you know if I will be riding there, yes I like doing hills from time to time just to spice things up.
There is a race that is Pits to Panorama Hill climb every year. I would be interested in heading out one weekend to give it a go.. See what all the fuss is about!

I think you're thinking of the NSW hill climb championship, held the day before the blayney to bathurst cyclo-sportif . They have a community run up the mountain after the actual event. This year there is an absolute psycho magpie on the mount coming at everyone front on, playing chicken at 70km/hr Pain is weakness leaving the body.
Did a few laps, nice track to go for a ride, but ruined by that magpie, kept coming at me from behind, only got me the first time as I kept looking back at him and putting hand up as he got close, he only seemed to come at my left side which made it easier to block the attacks
saw a few people doing it the other way(clockwise). but most cars were going counterclockwise.
Geez, Mt Panorama is not for the faint hearted! I've attempted it once and got half way and then had to walk. Not as fit as some. But spectacular scenery and fun but dangerous through the 'essess' if you are hurtling down too fast, plus you might exceed the speed limit (60) and get booked.
About magpies - did you see the one that swooped a race car on the weekend and it crashed!! (the car not the magpie) Enjoy your ride Cheers Sam
He is an experienced one isn't he. Good thing he only chases about a 100m otherwise I don't know how I could keep climbing while he attacks all the time, maybe that's why the other cyclists were going clockwise. didn't watch the race (apart from a few laps at the start) so didn't see the crash. was the magpie that caused the crash on the start of the uphill after turning left from the pit straight?
Hi, my husband saw it on TV, they were doing their practice run and a magpie swooped the car, distracted the driver and he lost control on the chase, last bend before the straight and crashed. Might be another aggressive one lurking on the mount or the same crazed one doing laps. There are a few crazy magpies around. There's one on a circuit I do that slams into your back - total body contact attack- scared the wits out of me. Yeah, we live in Bathurst, but watch the race on TV or rent the house out for $$$ and leave. You can hear the cars on the mount from our house which is 6km away!!
Hope you had fun riding around the mount. Sam
Got to 79~80 while following a van some 30m behind, I wasn't actually sprinting just following it and saw 79~80 when I looked at the speed. The other times I kept it at mid 60s in case there were cops around. Ok I am still unsure if the race cars go clockwise or anticlockwise.
Anticlockwise Pain is weakness leaving the body.
