And the final table for 2009, with the Yellow Jersey taken by zoom bean.
Could people who think they are in the running for Black and Green jersey's post up their km's per flat totals? Numbers to beat (off the top of my head) are 238km/flat for the Green Jersey (Strawburger), and 6,341km/flat for the Black Jersey (martinjs).
Personally, I averaged 545km between punctures and 20 punctures, so I win nothing.

I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.

It would be great to know what type of tyres the top 5 or 10 are using (for the majority of 2009). That way we can make sure its a brand/make to avoid in 2010.

Total 5100km
2 flats/punctures
1st was right at the start of the year as a noob stuffing around with tubes on my mtb and splitting a valve in the garage.
2nd was at the end of the year when I let the sealant completely dry up on the road bike.
There was at least 4000km between the 2, which was nice.
Average is 2550km or 1700km depending how accurately you want to calculate it.
Tires are NON-UST Maxxis Crossmarks wire bead and Hutchinson Fusion 2 carbon bead.
Shouldn't have any trouble getting zero this year with proper maintenance.

Hmmm, interesting. I see a pattern emerging there.
Thanks

I've probably done about 2500km since buying my bike in June. Not one puncture. Ever. Do I win a prize?

Nope! I went 30 years without a damn puncture (admittedly, a ten year break in the middle of it), then suddenly this year I get 4. My first ever puncture was on an allegedly puncture-resistant tyre. I should've just stayed with the craptacular OEM tyres that came with the bike!TheSkyMovesSideways wrote:I've probably done about 2500km since buying my bike in June. Not one puncture. Ever. ~570km per flat for me.
My tyres this year have been Conti UltraGator Skins and Conti GP4000S. I've also been really unlucky with twice putting brand new tyres on and on the first ride getting massive gashes - which then caused problems/subsequent punctures through their life...
