Pegoretti Responsorium

Last November, I ordered a custom build, custom paint job Pegoretti Responsorium. Today, I got a call from Bob at Stanmore Cycles that it has arrived!
Hopefully will get it built over the next week. Photos to come! It'll probably be in Stanmore Cycles in Stanmore on Parramatta Road for the next week or so if any one wants to have a look.

Was gonna post who's got plenty of money ... but then realised it should be in the past tense ....
Not a real fan of the paintjobs, but a VERY well made bike.
When do we get the pics ... ????

Congrats Micheal, what a bike. What paint job did you get? What build are you doing? Post photos. Post ride report, or just post the frame to me!

Nice! Have always admired the Pegoretti Bob has hanging in his shop. Tiny shop but some interesting stuff there.

Paint job? I believe that from 2008, Dario Pegoretti would do a
custom hand painted design on the Responsorium for an upcharge on the "Ciaveté" scheme. That's what I did since I was paying an arm and a leg for it anyway. Basically, Bob sent Dario some photos of some design ideas I had for the bike and I told him he could do anything he wanted. I sort of consider Pegoretti and artist an effectively I'm commissioning a work.
As for the build, basically I got measured up on Bob's little jig so it should be fitted to my dimensions. I'm going to put my TWE wheels on the bike and move the groupset from the Cannondale over (with a few new DA bits and pieces).

Dario Pegoretti (born 1957) is an Italian bicycle framebuilder based in Caldonazzo, outside the town of Trento, in the Dolomites. He is considered one of the great modern framebuilders and a pioneer of TIG welded frames. Pegoretti designed and built frames that were ridden by Miguel Indurain, Marco Pantani, Stephen Roche, Claudio Chiappucci, Mario Cippolini, and Andrea Tafi among others. He started out as a contract builder, making frames that would be labeled by other manufacturers until the American distributor Gita convinced him to build under his own name. Floyd Landis owns and rides a Love #3.
Pegoretti also won the President's Choice award at the 2007 North American Handmade Bicycle Show and framebuilder of the year at the 2008 show.
That is, best framebuilder in world... and that's not just my opinion.

Everyone has their own favorite! I saw my first Responsorium at this years Alpine classic..about 30sec before the off! Pity really, cause I want to have a closer look. It had a Ciaveté paint job and looked stunning. I can vouch for the superb handling of Pegorettis. I descended this year faster than I have ever before. Enjoy I'm sure you'll love it

Saw the beast today. Niiiice artwork ... although dragons? And those beautiful (and huge) rear dropouts! Nicest welds on any frameset anywhere.
Gotta love Bob and Bernard. Great store with even better service. I know the bike shop down the road, whose name I won't mention, might be a little cheaper but Stanmore Cycles is much better in every other way

That's a very pretty bike, I've been considering one as my next bike - they're a bit pricey, but *shrug*, still cheaper than my car, and I drive my car a lot less
Is the paint job some sort of hand-painted thing, or is it a transfer of some sort? You said you sent some sample artwork - was it just used, or did they just use it as guidance to make their own design?

Love the Pegoretti, however in my opinion the clear transfer with the bike shop logo on the downtube is sacrilege and spoils the effect.
Fantastic how you trained your cat to check tyre pressures on the Cannondale (cat scan?)

Exactly. I hope the bike shop asked if they could put that there? Putting a gaudy shop sticker on art is BS. What were they thinking?

It is hand painted, not a transfer or stencil. The sample artwork I sent in was used for "inspiration" only.
As for the bike shop sticker... well, it's just a sticker. I'll most likely take it off at some stage.

You lucky bugger.
The shop sticker is not good. Shame on them.
But the headtube badge is almost the same. You would have thought that the painting could have been done around it (like the headtube badge though).
