Anyway I got home from my quick 40km late afternoon ride and I had to ask my wife "Do I have a target painted on my back?".
Pedalling up Mango Hill towards North Lakes I was hit by a balled up bag of Hungry Jacks rubbish, cans and all thrown by a teenage oik from the back of a P plate special.
Fortunately didn't hit my body but it gave the handlebars a wack. I managed to recover and carry on no damage done. A near miss for sure. I was absolutely livid and hate to think what I would of done to the idiot responsible if I had of caught up with them. I'm not normally a fiery person and it takes a lot to get me riled up but I was ready to make with the major fisticuffs.
Then coming down into Kallangur past the BP servo a Pizza delivery woman decides to do a U turn just as i'm coming through the intersection. Missed me by inches and then you could see she only saw my reaction to her and not my approach. I caught up with her at the Domino's at Kallangur and gave her the time of day. Said she was sorry and she didn't see me. WHAT?! you didn't see the bright LED blinkers and the 6 foot tall dude on a bike?? Maybe you need your eyes testing.
Sometimes I feel like packing this lark in.

I understand what you mean but don't let the bastards win!! Cycling is way too much fun to let them wreck it for youbeanspropulsion wrote: Sometimes I feel like packing this lark in.
However, I have to say that the stretch of road you are talking about is (IMO) the worst in Brisbane/Pine Rivers for absolute d!ck heads...I get more things thrown at me, horns blown, swerves, shouts, swearing etc etc on the stretch from Northlakes back to Petrie than anywhere else. I only tend to ride there on Saturdays mornings, it is a stretch of about 3k and I get more abuse on a typical saturday in that 3 k than I get in a month of commuting into the city...ie1000k. The driving population there is a disgrace...well Ok, a proportion of them. End of rant
Sheeeeesh really gets me furious too....fully understand your feelings...but just think of a great ride in the hills...Mt Mee (?) yeah, thats why we won't ever stop riding

Funny thing is this is the first time i've had something thrown at me. Feeling good now, had a hard physical week at work, came down with a cold during the week, back felt crunchy but after a ride today I feel great, loosened up and ready for anything.Pax wrote:I understand what you mean but don't let the bastards win!! Don't think I've ever got anything chucked at me off road. There I get to chuck mud at myself.

Just realise, it's not cycling only that attracts this. In my parts of Sydney, you get the same kind of teenage dirt-bags throwing their rubbish at walkers and joggers. So what would you take up instead of cycling ?beanspropulsion wrote: Sometimes I feel like packing this lark in.
You can't help !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! - unless of course, you were able to catch their rego plate numbers and make an official complaint to the local coppers.

Drivers and or people who piss us off!
I tell you... so annoying.
As said before cycling is to fun enjoyable to worry about those things, but I can see what you are saying - lucky it didn't hit you thought.
