Would have liked to be in it but at the time (last year) of making up teams I had no one to work for me so I didn't offer my services but now I have 2 guys who can work for me.
Maybe next year.

Should mention it's a team event with 6 riders per team. It'll probably work out to about 150 to 200km per person. Some of the events are one rider per team on the road and some are more or the entire team. Good thing is it gives us non participants a weekend off racing. I plan to make the most of it and get in some extra hard training.
Aha, that makes a difference then. Not !!! It would be interesting challenge to enter though. Is the route pretty flat ?
As a pancake. It's hilly between Cloncurry and Mt Isa then pancake city until east of Hughenden where it's long straight roads but they go up and down, up and down, up and down in long low hills. Absolutely nothing to look at except the horizon. EDIT - I reread your post - I should have answered flat but not pretty.
Forget the mental challenge, what about the heat. Need to carry a couple of jerry cans.

I was thinking of the heat too last night when I heard it was 37 in Julia Creek yesterday. (about 200km east of Mt Isa) They'll have a couple of support cars per team and I hope plenty of sun screen. I've did many trips to the Isa when in Telecom and the only interesting thing I ever saw out there was a mob of about a thousand kangaroos near Richmond.
