Looking for some advice on new wheels/performance upgrades

I have Raceline bike that is around 5 years old.
I have got back into riding after a fair break and am doing rides between 50 - 150 kays. The wheels on it are basic 32 spoke Alex rims and I was thinking of upgrading to something Lighter/faster at a reasonable cost, as against upgrading the whole bike, which If I was going to would be to a carbon frame/105 equipped equivalent which would be a bit outside the budget! I like the bike anyway even if it is only sora equipment level, and a little heavier than some fancier bikes...

Any thoughts on what type of wheels on a sub $400 budget? I weigh 83kgs and am not to tough on wheels generally. Could the money be better spent ?

Cheers

Hi Richard,
you could get wheels from Shimano (WH561's), Campagnolo (Vento's), Mavic (Aksium's) and A-class (ALX 280's) at that price point. But, the Velocity's are a good alternative (and Australian to boot!). You could definitely get the Spartucus' and maybe even some Spartucus Pro's. I've had to chase a few and they don't seem to give much grief (except to me  ).

Easton Vistas are also in your price range. I have a set and I am quite happy. I weigh around 88kgs and put almost 2K on them since the start of the year. Still true as on day one.

Cheers,
