When is it time to true wheels?

What do you people think is excessive movement?
My rear has a little movement, maybe 2-3mm each revolution.
I would have a go myself but the spokes are blade suckers with the adjustment at the hub.
I tried to move one and the whole spoke started twisting.
Rather have the LBS do it without the damage risk.

So should I just ignore it and wait until she really has a wobble up?

2-3mm lateral movement would be the time to get it trued properly. Continued riding would mean uneven distribution of stresses.

X3, 3mm off true will have you breaking spokes soon.

Truing a wheel is a black art, mastered by few. I'm proud to say that years of practice has got me to the stage where I know to just take the damn thing in to the LBS first.
