Tweety (Giant TCR2) Phase 3 (my attempt at b1ke p0rn)

Postby Christine Tham » Sat Oct 03, 2009 12:50 pm

Since it's raining, I took the opportunity to give a bicycle a good clean and lube, and allow it to pose for photos.

Additions since Phase 2:
  • Shimano Dura Ace ST-7700-C shifters
  • New stem (yet again) 3T ARX PRO 80mm 6 degrees
  • fi'zi:k Vitesse HP saddle
  • Second drink bottle cage (Rav X Arrow)
  • Smart Polaris II lightset
  • Shimano 105 PD-5610 SPD-SL pedals
  • Bento Box (thanks, pine!)
  • Humphrey the Bear

Phase 3 bike:

Ultegra drivetrain:

New Dura Ace shifters (gear indicator is a bit gimmicky):

Actually, it doesn't - it knows how to fly well.

It's actually a speedometer:
  • Vertical - cycling too slowly
  • Horizontal - cruising speed

That bike's got "go fast" written all over it. Nice work :D

Does that gear indicator come with the Dura Ace shifters or are they sold separately? I didn't know indicators even existed...I always look behind me to see what gear i'm in. And you said its gimmicky - is it not accurate or does it just not work at all?

Yes the pink bar tapes will be way too much, for me, Christine needs to be colour coordinated to ride with me. It is more aerodynamics with the yellow.
This bike can fly. My expensive Pinarello prince has to work real hard to keep up with Tweety 8)

Nice bike. I lurv the colour - my first two road bikes were yellow but had black bar tape. The yellow is really cool.
Not sure the pink trim coordinates but I'm a guy so what would I know?

I was thinking of getting one of those stem bags for easy access to my snacks on longer rides. Are they any good?

How are you finding the Vitesse; wife is complaining her new Specialized is a pain in the bum, so have gone to an Easton EC70, but may need to change the saddle as well. Have been happy with my old Pave, so am looking at a Fizik for her as well.

Sorry for the late replies - have been busy playing with photos/video.

It's not very precise, therefore next to useless (what's the point of something that tells me "approximately" what gear I am in? If I needed to know, then I need to know the exact gear - fortunately FlightDeck already tells me that)

Tom Marius wrote:Cool bike, love the pink trim 8)

Have bought some pink gel tape (Pro pink flowers!). Waiting for the yellow tape to wear out first though (already on it's last legs - have been wrapping and unwrapping it too many times - slightly torn now).

Problem with the Cinelli cork gel tape in yellow is that it gets dirty really fast - basically as soon as I touch it.

Should be okay for that purpose. I was hoping to use it to put my GPS phone in to log my rides, but unfortunately the phone doesn't get a signal (obscured by my head most likely).

Very comfortable. More comfortable than the wide womens seat on my hybrid, and the Giant gel seat that comes with the CRX series.

right on, she is not riding with me with pink and yellow, I don’t care how fast she is. Colour coordination is what it is about. Cars are friendlier when you match.

Nice bike, great job on making it bespoke and stand out from the bunch.

I have the gear indicator with my Dura Ace 7800 groupset and it is actually very handy. I have found it to be very accurate all the time, but if I had my choice it would not be there and neither would the gear cables like the new dura ace.
