$249 at Clarence Street Cyclery. I was actually looking for a Giro, but they didn't have the one I wanted and I didn't want the older one, and a Giro Selector is not going to be suitable for normal riding. Tried on the Kask and thought, damn, this is really great. The straps on it are really comfortable and it fits perfectly.

One observation - you can't stick your glasses through the top of it securely - they will slide out easily. But the rest is good.

I just bought the same Kask helmet for $229 at Velo here in Brisbane. I concur its a very comfortable helmet and its nice and compact!

Complete absence of any padding, harness system and straps would suggest there would be one or two problems with meeting any standard

There's a cyclist who commutes along the Main Yarra Trail in the mornings who wears fake long blonde dreadlocks under his helmet or as part of his helmet (I'm pretty sure his hair is black). It looks a bit like this.

I tire of having an off-the-shelf helmet. Anyone know who does cool graphics for brain buckets? My latest body art design would parlay nicely to a bone dome, I think.

There used to be a helmet manufacturer with a Sydney factory and as it was a vacuum formed shell over the foam core - there would be the potential to slip in a sheet with your own graphics. I only saw kids helmets in production however and it is highly likely that this has been since outsourced to Asia. The challenge asking at a small producer in asia is that you wouldn't have the Australian Safety standard sticker and guarantee.
