You wouldn't want to be near that 'lot' in case of a blow out, would you?

Here here. When I see big people on bikes I always think good on em.

Cycling is great for overweight people (me!)

No impact, much kinder on the body than pretty much any other exercise (I hate swimming!)

I hate that I look so ridiculous on a bike because of my size though!

Always hope.

But this is not chic. Chic is:

From /r/bicycling It is a photo apparently of Elsa Von Blumen a champion female cyclist of the 1890s.

Soon you'll be like one of those TdF riders and be happy to wear a skinsuit and aero helmet. Well maybe not the last two bits, but you'll get there. Ride lots and the weight disappears quicker than you think.

Photoshopped! 1890s style.

And dear Elsa seems to have the longest legs of any female cyclist I've seen for a long time, judging by the pedal reach :? :P

I disagree.

I saw this photo on the Clydesdale cycling Facebook page with the caption:

No fashion icon to be sure, but certainly some style and class. Besides look of the fit of that helmet, low at the front, straps well adjusted; much better than the other bloke.

Cheers,

Cameron

Hmm....

I disagree. The thread is about chic. This is all about keeping suitably fashionable while riding a bicycle. Lycra team kit is fine but I don't count it as fashion - most people would not. It's great to see larger people riding bikes, every pedal revolution is one step on the road to improved health.

For a bit of encouragement here is one 'fat man on a bicycle' who has managed to stay more fashionable and has shown a big weight improvement in 5 months.

Good on him for having the gumption to do it. I hope he enjoys it and I hope it does him good.

And as said, he is at least doing it properly, so it is safe and efficient.

Since Vince Lombardi was the coach in the late 1950’s the American football team the Green Bay Packers have had a tradition for the players to ride the local kid’s bikes from the stadium to the practice field during summer training camp. Hundreds of kids bring their bikes along in the hope that their favourite player will ride their bike.
