TLL please explain? It's Ice T, he's pimped out, he's got Look on the sleeve.... It feels like I am looking at a cat driving a Purgeot down the Autobahn

Am I right?
Anquetil, Merckx and Gimondi.

Doesn't get much more chic than that.

Pockets on the front of their jerseys, the opposite of chic  .

Was very much de riguer for road racers right through from the 30s to the 60s I'd guess, when this photo was probably taken.

[edit] No, 1970 apparently, so even more of a classic. The '70s look is really chic these days right (judging by your avatar )

I like the idea. Surprised this little aspect of retro has been overlooked by the current revival of all things "old skool". I know a local Audax WA member has had his national club jersey modified by someone handy with a sewing maching to include front pockets.

And I'm honestly surprised ldrcycles didn't know this about front pockets himself ;) And he calls himself a retro nut, tsk! :D

Very cool. Sorely tempted to buy, but the $154 plus shipping is a barrier.

Pockets on the front of your jersey. So when you load them up it hangs down like you are 9months pregnant and you smack your knees into it.
Just because they used them in the past doesn't mean they had the right idea.
Gravity means it is a cr@p idea. Probably why they dont use them now

Does not seem to have been any huge problem for the boys. Maybe they just didn't carry so much gu :? Lots more feed hand-outs from the local village fans.

Nice to be able to unzip your jersey for a bit of airflow on a hot climb.

So Anquetil, Merckx, Gimondi and Coppi were all wrong then?

That's quite a claim...

Especially when (not pictured here) you add Bartali, Bobet, Bahamontes and Gaul. They defined chic, and chic was pockets on the front...

Yep self evident for the reasons listed.
Don't let me stop you going out and buying a few or sewing a pouch onto the front of your existing jerseys.
Flared jeans were also considered chic once, as were skivvies. :P
Might have seen a few of those fellas wearing them too back in the day.

I don't care who's wearing em they look naff IMO.
