Then she has the gall to shake her head at me... stupid woman.
Oh and another elderly driver decides me being in the middle of the lane signalling I'm turning right is irrelevant... proceeds to drive past me and turn right into the same street. A gentle couple of taps on his rear passenger door later he brakes hard and looks around.
I have no idea what he was thinking but it seemed to scare the daylights out of him.

Eventually I got back on the bike and road down the middle of the road with her beeping along behind me. She and most of the traffic turned off at the next roundabout while I went straight ahead.
She got a call from the Police later that day

I can't wait when minature camcorders are cheap as chips, as one mounted on the front bars and one mounted under the saddle would be heplful with recording traffic conflicts.hannos wrote:I have to remember to take record the number plates!

Me either. i've had a few occasions where they'd come in very handy.
Also need to get a jersey made with
"Smile, You're on camera!"
on the back.

Had one of these a couple of weeks ago on The Esplanade near Henley SLS, heading north at those little roundabouts, but mine was a bloke in a red mini accelerated and pushed past at the roundabout after I signalled him to wait, and pushed alongside into the turn. How close?
Well, I reached out easily and thumped his rear side window.
He didn't like that, weaved over the road trying to get a fix on me, slowed down, speeded up, went red in the face, wanted to continue the 'discussion' then buggered off sharpish when he looked in his rear view mirror...
so thanks to the three very large mean looking tri guys on TT bikes who'd seen the whole thing and steamed up to help out if things went conventional. I don't think baldy McF**kstick liked those odds so much.

Moron 2: Headng down Studley Rd outside the Austin hospital towards Burgundy St, moron 2 beeps me as I've taken the traffic lane. This area is usually very congested and trying to navigate from the bike lane to the right turn lane is a feat worthy of a Victoria Cross. But no, Mr Moron decides to undertake me on my left. Well actually he had the nerve to wind down the window and abusem e for not riding in the bike lane. I responded with my intentions of turning right and suggested he learn to be patient and share the road!

I was doing about 35k on the stretch north of the Jarrad St lights, ie. about 5k slower than the traffic. At Forrest St a Corolla just passes me, brakes and cuts left in front of me. As in about 30cm in front of me. I yell, as you do, and watch as it turns right onto Marmion. Aha, it's the Marmion shortcut, trying to avoid the Eric St lights and the school crossing.
Normally I'd peel off and take the PSP through Swanbourne and Claremont but I took a chance and figured I might catch it coming out of North St. Not a kilometre up the road I spot it coming out of Grant St. Goody!; two sets of lights and the second one was red when I got there and our burgundy Corolla was second back in the left lane, Aaand the way the traffic was running we had plenty of time to talk.
To the young female driver's credit she wound down her window and was very apologetic.
And maybe a little surprised that a human powered vehicle could beat her even though she knew all the backroad trix I hope she ended her day a little less moronic than she started

Would it be worth keeping a record of these crazies and their comments? If they ever hit a cyclist and are taken to court, their remarks on facebook might come in handy in supporting an intent to harm

Oh, and the day before yesterday I was heading down Collier Road in the bike line, approaching a red light. Someone was waiting at the lights in the right lane a decided to go into the left lane whilst completely blocking the bike lane. This happened when I was about 2 metres from the back of his car. I was centimetres from going up the back of him.

Yeah I reckon it would be worth keeping track of these idiots. Perhaps one day I might find a couple of them in a back alley and give them a firm lectureSia wrote: Would it be worth keeping a record of these crazies and their comments? But back to the point, it would be vital evidence in a Police case against them if they are every involved in an accident with a cyclist. It shows a clear case of premeditation and the wanton need to deliberately cause harm to other road users. It would also mean the difference between manslaughter and murder charges should someone be killed.
The question is tho, how do we keep track of them and do we inform the Police now?

I've also just tossed in a hand grenade. I'm off to get some popcorn :
Apologies to Graeme: your line was too good not to useWhat a bunch of whinging crybabies! Oh, the cyclist slowed me down ten seconds so I couldn't get to the next red light ahead of the other tards in their smoke box!
Well, here's the news: your rego doesn't pay for road maintenance or construction. If it's an RTA road, that comes from consolidated revenue. That's income tax and GST allocation from the fed. If it's a local street, that's covered by property owners rates and taxes. If it's a greenfield residential estate, the developer bears the cost.
So harden up princesses, and get over it. Bike riders are here to stay. On the road. Where they belong.
It's not a secret that reserved only for the intelligent: if you get a bike you can use the road for free too!
