I am there trying aswell, but the weather and early starts have knocked me around, on my quest. But there is still time.

I read something this year that has really stuck in my mind. Everytime I think of faltering and choosing not to ride, I say "Make an effort, not an excuse" to myself. It has become a bit of a personal mantra. I am determined to reach my cycling goals this year, and every single effort I make contributes to getting me there. Not saying you are not making an effort, just sharing something that has worked surprisingly well for me.

I agree with what you are saying there! But I am restricted with when I can ride, as in times. I start normally at 5.45 am, so I get up at 4am to squeeze a half hour ride in, but if I start earlier then I don't have time. I am not allowed to ride in the afternoon, because of sleep problems! Seeing as I am not young, and racing at the moment, I am not going to go out in the wet, on my bike. Gary

Hey Baldy - everyone knows Tasmanian kms are much shorter, easier, and no-where near as difficult as NSW kms. I think we need to apply a correction factor that accurately reflects this discrepency. Say 0.773 or something. Nothing personal of course.

What's the story with Hobart's northern suburbs? Bogan-ville?

I've set an 8000km goal. Currently sitting on 1678kms done. When I head off on my tour to the Red Centre I should pick up the pace pretty well
