All your rides past, present and future.
Thanks

It changes your ride type. If you check your activity list (under the training tab) it will list as commute instead of road, MTB etc. I guess it has the potential for reporting type functions in the future or potential challenges. At the moment the only place I can think of where I know you can use it is doing an activity search you can refine results by ride type so you could search for commute routes.

With the discussion of their power estimates in another thread it may also affect those figures as they factor in bike type in the calculations.

Joined up to track my kms and speeds over the year. Easily on track for 12000 for the year, but not for the 16K stretch goal

I joined the club, because I don't have anyone else on strava to follow so I thought it would be interesting to see the comparisons with the how much riding I do.
You will probably see me down the bottom of the distances.

Does being stationary (at a red light for example) contribute towards your average speed?

Not likely. There's a moving time and elapsed time measurement

Strava includes any stationary time in a segment. Here's a recent segment where I stopped for about 10 minutes (to clean some bubble gum out of the cassette - I don't know where it came from, but damn it was everywhere). You can see the average speed is over the total time, not just the moving time. I'll have to do that segment again one day so that I don't have the slowest time :).

Cheers,
Simon.

Ok cool, so if I run all the red lights on tomorrows ride my average speed should be much better. Thanks!

I don't get the point of people running segments through traffic lights. Stupid and unsafe IMHO.

Or this segment where I stopped at home to watch the Womens race and then kept riding.. LOL.

I don't get VicRoads putting traffic lights in the middle of segments :). There seems to be a bit of an explosion of them (well, two so far) on country roads aroung Geelong lately. Most annoying.

Cheers,
Simon.

Even worse is when a segment has a bridge in the middle of it, and the bridge collapses :) *That* KOM will be safe for a while. (Its not my KOM).

Got a gPS finally.... humbling results. A KOM on my first ride (within 5 minutes woohoo, beat the previous average by 3kmh!) but it seems like I'm just not that fast
