Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power syDon't worry, I'm sure won't have to wait too long before Garmin are offering to pay everyone $1500 to use their power meter. I'm curious how it actually measures deflection. It seems like it would depend a lot on the quality control and consistency of the pedals, particularly the spindle wall thickness. I wonder how accurate it really is.
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sySRM's last for a long time...a pair of pedals won't.
Lets wait and see them being used somewhere...I haven't seen any pro teams using them yet,has anyone else?.
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
I believe some pro-riders have been testing the Polar version. Andrew
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Rebuildable? Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power syWait on! Available not until March 2012!!! That's a long long way away, bordering on vapourware.
Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Everything is rebuildable...suppose we will see how user friendly it is.SRM isn't the most user friendly either.Powertap certainly isn't after the nightmare I had with my SL+. We need to see some sponsored riders using it day in day out to actually believe they have a finished prototype at least.
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Interesting results with your SL+ power tap as I have the same model which decided to go crazy after only 2 weeks. It was a fairly quick & painless replacement from the Cycleops people though. 4 day turn around no questions asked replacement of the internals. It's been going well ever since (6 weeks) & my wifes hub has been faultless since new. I've found the hub easy to use & set up with a total cost of $1200, but I'd go the $1500 pedals as you can swap from bike to bike unlike having a 450g hub bolted into your frame. Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.

Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Do you still have it & if so do you want to sell it ? I'm gathering by the "was a total lemon" it's now gone ? Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
They gave me a new wheel complete...but I only used it for about 1000km's before my back went wrong...so I sold it to a team mate.
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Garmin Australia has stated to us that replacement pedals and sensor parts will be available separately. Cheers

Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Garmin have their premium heart rate strap, and their crap strap for unassuming working class riders. So my suggestion is don't buy Garmin's non premium heart rate strap. Fav Ride : Pottsville, Byron, Bangalow, Eureka, Dunoon, Nimbin, Uki, Mooball, Pottsville 200km 3000m
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power syThen you will be pleased to know that most of Garmins top priced products including the Edge 800 are shipped with the Premium Heart rate Strap.
It is these top priced products that will most likely be the type of Heart Rate Monitors / Cycle computers that will be bought by the same customer that is interested in the Vector pedal. perfect marraige and problem solved ! However, my experience tells me that the standard Garmin strap outlasts the Premium strap by a long shot. The premium is more comfortable, but has a lower life span. Cheers

Adidas Andrew
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Having gone through two premium heart rate straps I would take that advice with a grain of salt. Andrew
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power syMy Edge 705 heart straps is still working fine
Masi Speciale CX 2008 - Brooks B17 special saddle, Garmin Edge 810
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power syI've been using the same HR strap (edge 305) for >3years now with no issues at all.
Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sySame here 800 strap used 5 days a week for 12 months no issues yet.

Re: Garmin Officially announces Vector -pedal based Power sy
Mine lasted about 18 months before the elastic had gone (base version strap). Mind you, it gets washed every ride, so that probably doesn't help.
