Cycling coaches or good books etc to read

Postby stevos » Mon Feb 11, 2008 1:27 pm

Looking for some info on a training program targeting improving for crit racing, i know the season is nearly over but i want to try and improve as much as possible in the off season so that im in peak fitness when crit season comes back around.

my aim is to get from finishing with the pack in C grade to competing in A grade over the course of a few years  allthough maybe im dreaming

Any advice would be good

If you are that serious, then start with these two sub-forums. There are a lot of gems to be found there.

Or better still, get yourself a good coach.

There's a pile of easy to read stuff available from www.roadbikerider.com and their "29 Pro Cycling Secrets for Roadies" e-book is great value (free when you sign up for their free newsletter).

IMO, coaching should be based on the individual athlete.

Of course, it should.

However:
a) there are a lot of cranks out there, and
b) it pays to be well informed because then you ask better questions.

So buy the books regardless.

I'll add my vote to Joe Friel's book listed above.

+1 on the Joe Friel Cyclists Bible - next step after that if you want more is a Coach
