10K PLUS club 201210K PLUS club 2012Good to hear from you, Wal!
Yes, like you, I find there are w***ers everywhere. But I also have found there are plenty of people who are keen to learn, people who want to help others, people who want to put back in what they have got out of sport. Those are the people that make up for the w***ers. The most fulfilling thing I have ever done in cycling was coaching the first Cogs Girls Cycle Skills Course - seeing how those women took on the challenge of learning new skills has kept me motivated when those other buggers get me down! Thanks Wal, writing this has motivated me to get out of bed tomorrow morning! Andrew ![]()
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012
Sounds like a pretty standard charity ride Wal If you made it to the finish line without incident then consider it a bonus Cheers, Stuart.
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012First day of the Every Second Counts challenge today, so I'm back to the early morning starts again in order to try and fit in enough K's.
Just about to head out the door, and it still feels awfully chilly outside!

Yep ... ![]()
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012
am NOT doing that one - just did the rapha rising challenge. the legs would kick my ass if they could get off the floor
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012
Ah why the heck not. Just read it and free access to Bicycling Australia #177 via Zinio download for anyone that participates. Lucky my legs haven't really lost the long distance that I put into them before 2-3 weeks off. Oh yeah haven't been updating bikejournal Oh shoot, Audax the long flat one is outside the dates. Training for that one, 400km ride would be my best effort. Masi Speciale CX 2008 - Brooks B17 special saddle, Garmin Edge 810
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Yep I'll be there again, should be substantially easier than the last one.

Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Been trying to work out the tracking system but no luck, I just manage the stats on strava but this week just rolled to 10,360km for the year ! On track for the 20,000 target
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Hey Stuart, what's going on mate, just noticed I've passed you??? You sick???
Happy Days
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012
Hey LTR, no problems here. I haven't updated BJ for a couple of weeks - I think I'm somewhere around the 12,300km mark at the moment. Have started doing a bit more running and swimming so cycling k's have dropped back a lot. Looking for a half marathon pb at the end of this month and 70.3 pb in October. Also hoping the Perth weather improves A LOT for tommorow's bike ride!! It's been very quiet in here recently!
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012We're experiencing cracking riding weather over here on the Sunshine Coast at the moment. Clear days, only light breezes but for us, bloody cold in the morning, 3.4°C yesterday morning on the way home. Glad we didn't go further west than Cooroy as it would have been below zero.
Now all I have to do is win Lotto so I can retire and ride at a more gentlemanly hour of the day. Mind you, I do enjoy the early rides - quiet roads, full moon settings and great sunrises over the ocean. Unless you are at the front of the pack the view's the same.
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012big milestone for me this morning - passed through my initial target of 7000kms (the target Mrs Jasonc knows about).
With 4.5 months to go, am looking at a good number for the year. Am less than 300kms behind our car for the year....
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012It appears that this club has fallen over.
My update- when I cycle 100m on my to work shortly I will pass my target for the year (25000kms), what are you softies doing?? Come on you lot giddy up! Rode Moreton Bay 100 on the weekend, as I said about some people who ride charity rides in my last post, some shouldn't ride a merry-go-round, I had to politely ask more than half a dozen blokes to move away from my side as I didn't feel confident in their bike handling abilities to have them riding 2mm from my shoulder, 2 guys I had to put the track racing shoulder/elbow/hip/knee shove onto them to convince them I wasn't joking. I'll no longer be riding the modern (well 2003 is modern isn't it? Yeah, I've become a cranky old man, who'd a thunk? Anyway enough of my gripes, stop reading my shite & get out there on your bikes ya lazy bunch of sods.
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Hey Wal i am the same age and don't consider myself old.....yet.
still out there doing the k's.Tim
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Hey Wal, I'm still ticking along. Did the Upper Brookfield and Gap Creek Rd loop this morning, knocked off another Strava challenge.
Posted in the Qld weather that it hit 0°C (AT) Upper Brookfield. Support my Ride to Fight MS!

Re: 10K PLUS club 2012
This OFIL is still cruising along as well. 0°C is cold. To think we were complaining last week when it got down to 3° Unless you are at the front of the pack the view's the same.
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012It's nice riding into work at 2pm, the ride home at midnight is interesting, very few cars so little traffic, but what they lack in volume they more than compensate for in stupidity, cold, hmmm haven't noticed the cold, but then I'm probably riding half asleep, must admit the shower is a nice place when I get in.
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012I'm still smashing the kms (well it is smashing for me....). My total commute for yesterday was 69.9kms! I think it's my biggest commuting day ever
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012I ticked over 9,000KM on my way home last night, so I'm getting pretty close to "officially" belonging to the 10K PLUS club!!
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012Did 53 miles this morning (85km) to celebrate turning 53.
Chapeau to anyone riding in Melbourne this morning - it was cold, very wet and windy... At times I felt the bike move sideways as it gusted. 3 weeks time I'll be in Byron Bay and hopefully doing some serious kms to boost the total. Don't know about anyone else but I am tired of cleaning bikes... I want this winter to end!! Andrew ![]()
Re: 10K PLUS club 2012My first 100km Saturday/Sunday double for a few months. Big effort yesterday and another decent one today means my legs are toast!
Good to see everyone else is ticking along in here. Congrats on passing 15k for the year Tim!!
