I am yet to do Springbrook, always tend to get railroaded into Binna Burra, Natural Bridge or O'Reilley's.
Springbrook will be easy after O'Reilly's, except if you go up past the fudge shop all the way to The Best of All Lookout then it kicks up into 25% territory in the last couple of k's.
The road condition is great, good sections on new smooth tarmac....just watch the oneway bridges, one of them is a bit ordinary especially on the down track.

I'm super keen to get back again, it's my new favorite ride....I've driven up there heaps over the years as I have family that used to live up there but riding up gives you a completely different perspective on your surroundings

Awesome K's Lisa, never say never re: the 10k this year :D

I can understand then the logic of running on the road but sad to say 90% of the joggers I encounter don't move into the path they just keep going, which is what annoys me.

Summer is coming guys and gals Oh Happy Days are here again :D

Ye, what ever happened to JB !!

Thoughts for 2013.

Was thinking of making it 'The Club' which will be the home for anyone with a target over 7k as its nice to have a place to call home. I will however ensure the leader board is uploaded every week. New job this year made it difficult but all good now.

I'm still here - but I'm much more of a lurker than a poster. As Mark Twain said - It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

I actually think we may need 4 topics for next year

0-3k (to 250km/month)
3km-6k (to 500km/month)
6k-10k(to 800km/month)
10k plus

this would help separate the types of discussions and ride lengths discussed in each group (i.e. you're more likely to have a discussion about 80km+ rides in the 6k plus groups)

then again, maybe i don't know what I'm talking about (VERY likely)

could just have 1 topic and let everyone blurt in there

My column has turned gold :D ... better than expected for this year, supposed it means I have fully recovered :D .
Next year who knows... I expect it will be much the same, will totally dump bike journal though for sure.

I'm temporarily down to just 1 bike.
No. 3 bike is kaput - after 12 years the frame cracked irreparably. No. 2 bike, the Lynskey rigid 29er I rode on dirt roads at Byron is getting converted to be a drop bar monster cross bike. It just leaves me my Baum to ride to work on the bike path - as sacrilegious as it might be!!!

How many bikes do you folks own....? Me, ive got just the two but going to add a new one to the stable next year. Not sure if could justify having anymore, not to say I wouldn't like more though.

there are 2 calculations:
N+1 - you always want one more than what you already have
and more importantly
D-1 - one less than when your partner wants a divorce

I'm in a downward spiral....
16 years with 1 bike 1987-2002 ( not the same bike as I had a few stolen..)
6 years with 2 bikes 2003 -2008
2 years with 3 bikes 2009-2010
1 year with 4 bikes 2011
this year I've added 2. So down to 6 months..

So 6 bikes, 4 that I use. 2 that are decorations on the garage wall. (plus a MTB that doesn't count)
I'm pretty certain I have enough now. Probably reached D-1 too!

Jasus guys, you must have big garages for all those bikes... Impressive.

My new (if and when I get it) will be the 2012 Advanced TCR, Black sexy lady she'll be.

Though I am looking at Treks also as the LBS reckon they'll be better for me.

Anyone ride a trek....

Do any of you name your bike or is that just me..?

Hi LTR,

I have a Lemond which is just a Trek in diguise (it's been named Big Red by wifey), my Tourer is named Vivien (the Vivente)
My Burls is too much of a pure bred to stoop to a name.

Cheers
P

Caddie and Romany after our dogs when growing up. Ok, that sounds a bit weird but the names do have some logic. Caddie is a CAAD10 5 and Romany is a tourer.

@KB that makes me feel better. I figure you spend so much time on her, she should have a name :D
@Tim Brooks saddles, not the big wide ones I assume...? I reckon the Treks are a stiffer frame than some brands (would you agree) which is what I think I need as I'm v tall with a large frame (bike frame).
