6K Club. 2012 Edition. Cleaner and Greener.

Welcome to the 2012 edition of the 6K Club. Now with less emissions than ever before.

Some history of this illustrious group of pretenders in lycra.

A Friday morning in March 2010 saw the club formed with a call to arms for all those with aims of pedalling 6000kms for the year. Barto and myself had been spurring each other on it the Fit Gits thread. The club slowly grew and saw a good hand full of people reach their goals. It was such a success, we decided to go again in Year of our lord 2011.

A new thread was started, the "6k Club. 2011 Edition. Now with more sparkle." It was going great guns with the gauntlets being launched like confetti at a Greek wedding. It had even had the arrival of members who didn't posses the Y chromosome. Then, late at night on the 13th of March, *poof* (Mods, please note, this is a magical term, not aimed at any particular minority), GONE! The thread had done the Harry Holt. The question was asked in this thread, which became a halfway house for a while, until it was realised the original thread, with the sparkle, he popped its clogs and wasn't coming home. So, the newest version was started up, or Reloaded. It took off and is still going today.

Hopefully the 2012 edition of the 6K Club will be as enjoyable and rewarding as the previous 2 versions.

To join the club, just have a yearly goal of between 6000kms and 6999.99kms and post in this thread. That is all there is to it. You will get an unexpected knock on the door sometime in January. A wisp of a man we like to call Baldy will be there to run you through the initiation process. Really, it is best to just relax, close your eyes and go to your happy place.

Welcome one and all. Let the gauntlets fly.

Ok, I'm in again, put me down for 6999.99.... Wasn't planning on using bike journal next year, have to see if there is a way to track it with strava and put it in the signature line, or failing that, using garmin connect.

I am looking into a way of offering the one like mine to more people. May have it sorted by Jan 1. :)

It uses Strava Shane.

I intend to do between 6000 and 6999.99km inclusive.
Whether that happens is an entirely different matter!

Maybe, just maybe the clever guy that made it can sort it out for all of us. It comes with pretty stuff like.

Hi all,

Count me in!!

My aim back in 2010 was to hit 6K, and I was on track too before getting wiped out by a little old lady in a Corolla (in October) and losing almost 12 months off the bike. Looking to make amends in 2012, and hitting that target for real this time. 500km/month is a nice round figure, which I'll hopefully hit this time around...

Cheers,
Abby

I will throw my hat in the ring and go with a target of 6000km.
I don't like my odds but no point settng a goal that can be easily acchieved.

I'm happy to do the initiation on this one to save Baldy the travelling. I can arrange the tattoo when he reaches the half way mark too.

I'll be attempting the 6K+ again. Hopefully no hinderances in 2012.

Love the opening post Norbs. This year's club has been very inspiring and has helped me stay (close) to the target...doing my best to catch and overtake the red triangle in the dying days of '11

Put me down for 6999.9k, keen to up my 6666 target

I'll try for 6437k (or 4000 miles). As i don't have a Garmin type whatsamajig i started this year by just writing down all my mileage on a piece of paper on my girlfriends garage door :) . Lost myself around May, so i think around 3500k for the year. I'm intending to really kick up my training this year and get my fitness up a few levels so shouldn't be too hard to get the 4000.

Count me in for the minimum 6K for 2012
Struggled this year but hope to get back on track in 2012. Norbs your Stravia widget looks like the go ... beats the multiple entries.

Cheers
